Former Lady Astro excels on RPI court
Rensselaer freshman guard Michelle Reid of Derry is a member of the RPI women's basketball team.
Playing in four of the team's 17 games, Reid is averaging 1.5 points and 0.8 rebounds per game. A former standout at Pinkerton Academy, she is also averaging 0.8 assists per game and has three steals.
Wrestling Rebels shine at tournament
DERRY — On Jan. 28, a contingent of the Greater Derry Boys and Girls Club's Wrestling Rebels competed in the Crusader Wrestling Tournament at Memorial High School in Manchester.
Dylan Barreiro led the way winning a silver medal. Seamus Dolan brought home a bronze medal for his efforts and John Durant registered a fourth-place finish. Nathan Landry and T. J. Briggs wrestled well at the event.
'The Gronk' signs autographs in Derry
DERRY — Patriot tight end Rob Gronkowski will be at La Carreta Mexican Restaurant, 35 Manchester Road, on Monday, Feb. 13, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Gronkowski will sign autographs. Prices range from $20 to $79.

Girls, try out for Bay State Blizzards
The Bay State Blizzards girls AAU club is expanding to New Hampshire.
Tryouts for all girls in grades 5 through 8 will be held Feb. 5 at Windham High School, 64 London Bridge Road. Grades 5 and 6 try out from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Girls in grades 7 and 8 get their chance from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
Kevin Barboza's Bay State Blizzards offers players an opportunity to train and develop as basketball players.
The Bay State Blizzards have had teams predominately from the North Shore area, coaching some of the area's best current and future high school athletes. Barboza is now ready to expand into New Hampshire in order to provide players an alternative approach to AAU basketball.
It's a 16-week program, March 20-June 28. There are two 90-minute practices a week in Windham.
The cost for the season is $460 per player (plus uniform cost), with $40 due on the tryout date.
Feb. 11 is Youngsville Jr. Baseball sign-up
AUBURN — Youngsville Jr. Baseball will be holding baseball sign-ups at Auburn Village School, 11 Eaton Hill Road, on Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon. You can also sign up online at youngsvillebaseball.org.
Youngsville is a member of the Cal Ripken baseball organization and offers four divisions of baseball for 4- to 12-year-olds, who must be team age by May 1. AAU players are also welcomed.
Children who live in Derry and Chester are eligible to play at Youngsville.
