RAYS do well at meet, set team records

The Rockingham Area Youth Swim team hosted the Peterborough (Region) Swim Team at a dual meet on Jan. 12 at the Salem Workout Club and Wellness Center.

Many RAYS scored at this meet and several set new team records during the meet. Scoring was for first or first and second place, depending on the number of entrants in individual events.

8 and under girls

Maya Lincoln (Londonderry): first in 25 back

Kaitlin Witkop (Londonderry): second in 50 free, 100 free and 25 fly

Ella Dyjak (Londonderry): first in 100 IM and 25 breast

Emma Hazard (Derry): second in 100 IM

8 and under boys

Nick Lamy (Chester): first in 50 back, second in 25 breast

Jack McCarthy (Londonderry): first in 25 fly and 25 breast

Luc Lafond (Londonderry): first in 50 fly and 100 free, second in 50 free

Owen Nelson (Derry): first in 25 free

Michael Anstey (Londonderry): second in 25 free and 25 back

9-10 girls

Jasmine Brown (Londonderry): second in 100 IM and 100 free

Catherine Hazard (Derry): first in 100 breast, second in 25 back

9-10 boys

Hunter Hazard (Derry): first in 50 free, 50 breast and 100 breast

Christian Nelson (Derry): first in 200 free

Ryan Golabiewski (Derry): second in 100 IM

Addison Carder-Cannillo (Derry): first in 50 free, 50 fly and 1000 free

Christian Nelson (Derry): first in 50 breast, second in 50 fly

13-14 girls

Sara Muller (Derry): first in 200 free and 200 breast, second in 100 fly

Alli Martin (Londonderry): first in 50 free, second in 100 free

Brittaney Brown (Londonderry): first in 100 back

13-14 boys

Kyle McKenzie (Londonderry): first in 200 free, 100 back and 100 free

Nick Byrne (Londonderry): first in 50 free, third in 100 breast and 200 free

Mitch Williams (Derry): second in 50 free and 100 breast

Mike Hession (Londonderry): second in 100 free

RAYS teams finishing first at this meet were as follows:

8 and under girls: Ella Dyjak (Londonderry), Reilly Hazard (Derry), Melina Fedele (Windham) and Kaitlyn Witkop (Londonderry) in the 100 Medley Relay. Kaitlyn, Melina and Ella were joined by Emma Hazard to take first place in the 100 freestyle relay as well.

8 and under boys: Owen Caprioglio (Litchfield), Jack McCarthy (Londonderry), Miller Swank (Windham) and Owen Nelson (Derry) in the 100 Medley Relay. Owen C, Jack and Miller were joined by Nick Lamy of Chester to place first in the 100 Freestyle Relay as well.

9-10 girls: Hannah Pickett (Windham), Amy Prendergast (Windham), Sasha McNeal (Salem) and Catherine Hazard (Derry) in the 200 Medley Relay. Hannah, Catherine and Sasha were joined by Jasmine Brown of Londonderry to place first in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

9-10 boys: Miles Swank and Bradley Valo (Windham), Hunter Hazard (Derry) and Max Spencer (Windham) in both the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Freestyle Relay.

11-12 girls: Emily Martsolf (Windham), Hannah Terry (Danville), Jillian Serrentino (Pelham) and Caitlynn Mahan (Londonderry) in the 200 Medley Relay. Ally Gillespie (Londonderry), Jules Teichert (Andover, Mass.), Anna Gruchot (Londonderry) and Emily Martsolf (Windham) also placed first in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

11-12 boys: Max Swank (Windham), Addison Carder-Cannillo (Derry), Eli Runge (Chester) and Christian Nelson (Derry) in the 200 Medley Relay. Eli, Addison and Christian were also joined by Jason Domogala of Windham to place first in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

13-14 girls: Sara Muller (Derry), Ashley Domogala, Anna Matsco and Laura Pomeroy (Windham) in the 200 Medley Relay. Sara, Anna and Laura were joined by Brittaney Brown of Londonderry to place first in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

Swimmers breaking RAYS team records at this meet included: Medina Fedele of Windham, Sasha McNeal of Salem, Owen Caprioglio of Litchfield, and Hunter Hazard and Addison Carder-Cannillo of Derry.

Medina Fedele set a new girls 8 and under 100-yard freestyle record with a time of 1:34.12. Sasha McNeal broke yet another freestyle record with a time of 2:22.85 in the 9-10 girls 200 free.

Owen Caprioglio set a record time of 1:28.97 in the boys 8 and under 100-yard backstroke. Hunter Hazard sprinted to a new boys 9-10 50-yard breaststroke record with a time of 43.05 and Addison Carder-Cannillo swam strong in the 11-12 boys 1000 freestyle to improve his earlier record time, finishing the race in 13:37.19.
