The Granite State Warriors U13 Team won its second championship in a row, going undefeated at the New England Youth All Star Tournament at UMass Amherst July 10 and 11.
The Warriors defeated Home Grown Lax from North Andover, 9-2. In the second game of the day, the Warriors faced a tough test against Team Long Island. The Warriors jumped right on them, scoring two quick goals to go up 2-0 early in the game. This was the key to the game as the final score was 5-2 in a well-played game. In the final game on Saturday, the Warriors beat NESLL North, 11-1.
Sunday's matches were going to determine who the champions were as the long rain delay on Saturday would eliminate the championship round. That meant a team needed to go undefeated to have any chance of winning the championship. The Warriors didn't disappoint. They dismantled NESLL Mid, 13-2.
Going into the last game of the day, the only two undefeated teams were the Granite State Warriors and NH Tomahawks. The Tomahawks would face Team Long Island. The Warriors were up against Connecticut Rip It.
The Warriors were on a mission and dominated ball possession, winning more than 90 percent of their faceoffs. They scored early and often, beating Rip It, 11-3. The Tomahawks had their hands full with Team Long Island in a defensive struggle, ending in a 2-2 tie.
The Granite State Warriors were crowned champions, going undefeated with a 5-0 record.
