Two straight playoff-stunners aren't enough to derail Londonderry boys soccer this year.

The Lancers, who fell to rival Pinkerton in the Class L tournament in both 2005 and 2006, could have another big season ahead of them.

It all starts with midfielder Robbie McLarney, an All-Class L player and National Soccer Coaches Association All-American. The versatile McClarney scored 12 goals last season. He is currently getting looks from several Division 1 schools, including Ohio State, Rutgers and George Washington.

Londonderry also returns striker Billy Holland, who notched 10 goals last fall.

"These guys have been an outstanding group," coach Shawn Diaz said. "We have great leadership to go around."

Once again, the Lancers look like they could make a run deep into the Class L tourney.

"I think we always feel that when it comes down to playoff time, we're going to be vying for the top spot," Diaz said.

William Cavallo, a senior forward, could be a big scoring threat for Londonderry, which finished last season with a stellar 14-4 record.
