Salem Saints have a strong week Youth Hockey Roundup

The Salem Saints had 14 games this week with a record of 5-1-8 in Valley League play.

The Saints Bantam 1 team remains in first place in the Blue South Division and tied North Reading 1-1 with Tyler Donahue, assisted by Nick Yameen, getting the lone goal. The Bantam 1 squad also recently took home the championship trophy at the Waterville Valley Octoberfest Tournament.

The Peewee 3 team matched up against Burlington at the Valley Forum in Lawrence, winning a back-and-forth, come-from-behind game, 4-3, with Nick Foti and Eddie Ryan each scoring twice.

The Peewee 2 had a great game on Tuesday with a 6-0 win over Marblehead. Goalies Chris Ronan and Andrew Gosson split time in net to earn the shutout. With quick forechecking and backchecking, the kids were flying in a complete win.

Meanwhile the Squirt 1 team lost to Marblehead 4-1 on Saturday afternoon. Goalie Nick Sturgess played a great game keeping the score close until the third period. The only goal for Salem was in the first period by Jacob Sylvester.
