Swimming
The Rockingham Area Youth Swim team finished the summer season at the GSSA state championship meet in Dover recently. The RAYS took second place in a field of 10 teams thanks to 10 first-place finishes and a slew of top-three performances.
The winning girls 11-12 200-meter medley relay team, featuring Meaghan O'Connor, Julia Enos, Allison McCarthy and Emily Matsco was the RAYS' best relay team. Three other teams, the 13-14 girls 200-meter medley relay, the 13-14 boys 200-meter medley relay and the 17-19 boys 200-meter medley relay, all took second.
Nicholas Bergstrom was the king of the pool with three separate individual state championships. Bergstrom won the 50-meter fly, 50-meter backstroke, and 50-meter freestyle in the 11-12 division with ease.
Eli Runge had two wins in the 8-and-under division, taking first in the 50-meter freestyle and 25-meter breaststroke.
Erin Hersey, Mark Bacigalupo, Zach Bowen, and Megan Dewitt each had one win.
Basketball
Celtics will hold local clinic
Current Boston Celtic Eddie House and Celtics legend Cedric Maxwell will be in Londonderry on Friday to give a free basketball clinic that begins at 12:30 p.m. at Londonderry Middle School.
