Post 9 bounced from Legion tourney

Derry Post 9 was eliminated from the New Hampshire American Legion playoffs Monday, falling to Hudson, 10-4.

Brandon Bell went 72/3 innings, allowing three earned runs. Derry finished the year 18-6. Portsmouth, which beat Derry earlier in the tournament, edged Rochester, 4-3, to capture the state title.

Londonderry's Brian Wilson, the closer for the San Francisco Giants, leads the National League in saves through Aug. 5 with 31 in 33 chances. He has struck out 49 batters in just 441/3 innings. His 31 saves is tied for third in the majors with Boston's Jonathan Papelbon and Baltimore's George Sherrill. Only Kansas City's Joakim Soria (32) and the Los Angeles Angels' Francisco Rodriguez (44) have more.
