Amador's big day can't carry Derry

Despite a home run and three RBIs from Juan Amador, Derry Post 9 fell to Goffstown 9-8. Pat Curry added three hits while Steve Clark and Joe Guidi each drove in two runs for Derry, which dropped its first game of the year. Post 9 is now 4-1.

Sayward lifts Pinkerton past Dracut

Stephanie Sayward scored a game-high 11 points to lead Pinkerton to a 64-26 drubbing of Dracut in the girls' Hoops for Hope League action.

Several locals shine at Astros camp

After a week of competition at the Pinkerton Lady Astros Basketball camp, winners emerged in the knockout, one-on-one, and free throw tournaments in the camp's three divisions. Grace Quartiello of Atkinson dominated the 8/9 High School Division, winning all three tournaments. In the 10/11 College Division, Brittany Roche beat Melanie George in the finals of the one-on-one competition, and came through again in the free throw tournament. Hannah Lynch won the knockout tournament. In the Pro Division, Derry's Sam Breslin won the one-on-one title, beating out Val Martin. Jacky Walker won the knockout tournament, and Claire Foggo won the free throw championship.
