Don’t forget to bring donations for the food pantry when you leave for the parade.
Derry Village Rotarians will push shopping carts and collect nonperishable food items and cash donations along the parade route. This is an easy way to show support for the community.
Local food pantry shelves are pretty bare this year and more donations of food and cash are always needed.
Sonshine Soup Kitchen also could use some extra help as winter bears down.
The wish list at Sonshine includes canned fruit, applesauce, low- or no-sugar cold cereal, canned beets, carrots, peas and corn, mayonnaise, chowder, cream soups, coffee, olives and bread crumbs.
As of Sept. 30, Sonshine had served 10,670 meals this year to 7,055 guests.
In addition to food, on shine needs new socks and underwear, new (or nearly new) towels, Styrofoam and paper bowls, disposable cutlery, paper napkins, 13-gllon trash bags, and much more.
