Tree sales support community

Christmas tree sales translate into a lot of green for local charitable organizations.

The Derry and Londonderry Lions Clubs, Knights of Columbus and St. Mark’s Masonic Lodge earn thousands of dollars each season to support their good work.

Many of the groups have been setting up tree lots for decades, buying hundreds of trees to sell to local residents and fill their coffers so they can continue to support local food pantries and more.

It’s the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Derry Lions Club, bringing in several thousand dollars every holiday season.

Prices at these local lots mirror or even beat those charged by for-profit businesses, but the profits all go back into the community.

Volunteers shake, trim, hold and load trees for their customers, many of whom return year after year to support the local organizations.

Watch the Derry News for the exact times and places for local tree sales this year.
