The Red Star Twirlers are ready for the holidays and will be twirling this season for a good cause.
The local baton group will present its annual holiday show, “Bells for Christmas Present,” on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Derry Opera House on West Broadway.
This year’s show features several surprises, including a performance by Juvenile Miss Majorette of America 2013 Emily Cowette of Londonderry.
The twirlers are strong supporters of the community and this year’s show will once again go to help support the Derry News Santa Fund. Last year, the Red Stars donated $650 to those struggling during the holiday season.
For this year’s holiday offering, about 20 Red Star twirlers and their families are hard at work preparing for the show. Twirlers represent towns all over Southern New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
The Red Stars take the stage in Derry as the new 2013 Senior National and World Corps Champions, based on a competition this summer at the University of Notre Dame.
The twirlers will once again present their winning “Sister Act” routine as part of the December show.
The show is for all ages and tickets are only $5. Tickets are on sale at Veterans Hall, 31 West Broadway on Tuesday and Thursday evenings during Red Star rehearsals; at the Halligan Tavern; or 30 minutes before showtime on Dec. 14.
