Can we have a do-over of the March election? I made a mistake in voting for Neil Wetherbee in District 3. I should have voted for Doug Newell. I thought Wetherbee would be able to at least start some cost cutting and I see now that he is unwilling to leave unfilled any expensive over-paid positions in our town departments. Doing "that" is the help we taxpaying homeowner's all need.

The town employees (especially their benefits packages) are killing the town. I remember when Wetherbee acknowledged that it would take several years before residents begin to see any change in the tax rate. I thought he would (at the very least) be trying to help the tax rate instead of just being a body that shows up at meetings and votes "no" on everything that would be of help to the Derry citizens. If Doug Newell runs again I will support him 100 percent.

It's time Derry re-thinks its downtown renewal idea. In this age, people do not want to shop in a downtown area. Notice strip malls, individual box stores and malls always have customer traffic.

The idea the downtown Derry can flourish as a shopping area is silly.

We pumped in over a million dollars awhile back to revitalize downtown and now we continue to throw more money at it. Let offices occupy downtown. Let the market decide what business will locate there.

If the town wants to spend money it should give taxpayers a rebate check.

Why are we paying Derry's two attorneys for their legal advice and then not accepting it? Example: they were of the opinion that it was illegal for the conservation committe to donate any funds for the bike trail. Did they listen? No. This is the taxpayers' money once again being given away. Wasn't $225,000 enough that the council gave a few weeks ago? All other monies were to be raised by the bike trail alliance. They were not to approach the town again. They should not have done this. There is no end to Derry spending, even in a reccession.
