Last, but not least, thanks to Derryfest and the Farmer’s Market! What a wonderful “people-friendly” town. Thanks to all of you who make life better here!
Town employees deserved recognition
To the editor:
In response to the letter from Janet Fairbanks that appeared in the Derry News on Dec. 12:
I am grateful for the hard work of the Derry municipal employees, and pleased that they were given a couple of hours off during the middle of the workday to attend an annual recognition luncheon.
The minutes of the Nov. 5 Town Council meeting indicate that the Town Council was informed by the town administrator that there would be a recognition luncheon on Dec. 6, and that the Municipal Center would be closed for several hours as a result.
It is unfortunate that Ms. Fairbanks chose to misrepresent this event as a holiday party. Ms. Fairbanks also failed to note that the Town Council and town employees delivered a fiscal year 2014 budget that included no increase in taxes for municipal services. That kind of result can only happen when we have conscientious, motivated employees who are looking out for the best interests of the people that they serve. Our town employees deserve to be recognized for their hard work.
