Windham, NH — Lillian “Auntie Jennie” T. Stevens, 96, formerly of Londonderry, N.H., died in Windham Terrace, Windham, N.H. Mrs. Stevens was born in Derry, N.H. on Aug. 5, 1917, a daughter of the late Adam and Elmire (Rousseau) Bournival. She spent most of her life in New Hampshire, though she lived in Melbourne, Fla. for 26 years. She was a graduate of St. George’s High School, Hesser Business College, and the Notre Dame Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for many years in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Mrs. Stevens was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and a retired Lt. Colonel in the Army Reserve. She was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church, a member of the Red Hatters Chapter, both of Londonderry, and Shirley’s Friends of Derry.Continued ...

He was born in Derry, N.H. on April 26, 1956, a son of the late Dana and Alice (Clark) Rockwell, and had lived most of his life in Derry. Londonderry, NH — Clarence M. Blaisdell, 97 of Londonderry, N.H., died Tuesday May 27, 2014 in the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, N.H. Mr. Blaisdell was born in Plainville, Mass. on Nov. 13, 1916, a son of the late Caspar T. and Flora (Devereaux) Blaisdell. He was raised in Wrentham, Mass., living in Conover, N.C. before moving to Londonderry 21 years ago. During WWII, Mr. Blaisdell served in the U.S. Army with the Fourth Field Artillery Unit in the Pacific Theatre. He worked with his family for many years at Blaisdell’s Market in Wrentham. He was later employed as a school bus driver in the Wrentham community where he was known as “Cappy." He was a member of the Wrentham American Legion Post #225 and a former member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Wrentham. Mr. Blaisdell was always smiling and making a joke. She was born on Sept. 23, 1940 in Norwich, Conn., a daughter of the late Frank and Edith (Clays) Prodell. She attended Norwich Academy and graduated from University of Connecticut. She received her Master’s degree from Notre Dame University. Janice taught in the Derry school system for many years as a first grade teacher and later in her career worked with the gifted and talented program. She was a passionate artist, gardener and loved to cook. Janice loved to spend time with her family and was especially close to her three grandchildren. She was born in Brunswick, Maine on June 29, 1929, a daughter of Clifford and Ruth (Miller) McNally. She was a graduate of Brunswick High School, Class of 1947. Following graduation, Mary was employed by W.T. Grant’s Store in Brunswick, Maine. She was a homemaker and mother for many years, living in Melrose, Mass. and Dover, N.H. Then she moved to Londonderry, N.H. in 1964, where she worked in many jobs, including H.E. Harris Stamp Factory, Rally Inc. (a boot factory in Derry), Cullers Fabric Shop and Bio-San Laboratories in Derry, retiring after 20 years in 2010. She had been a communicant of Londonderry United Methodist Church since 1964, holding many positions, such as Sunday School Teacher, Mission Committee and Usher for services until her illness this year.Continued ...

Andover — Cathleen was born in Andover, Mass., and graduated cum laude from Abbot Academy. After obtaining her B.A. in English from Smith College, she received her M.A. from Boston College. Her career was full, teaching for eight years in secondary schools and later becoming the staff writer-editor for Scholastic Magazine and later Assistant to the Editor of the Norfolk District of the Massachusetts Medical Society. She married William Elmer in 1953. Their son, Edward, was born in 1958, and Mrs. Elmer turned to freelancing at home, first as a writer-editor for Ginn and Co. and Houghton Mifflin; later, as a book reviewer for the New York Times, the Boston Herald and Herald American, the Baltimore Sun, and the Washington Times.Continued ...

Derry, NH — Miyoko S. Centner, 90, passed away with her family by her side on May 23, 2014, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Miyoko was born in Tokyo, Japan. She emigrated to the United States in 1952, and became a naturalized citizen of the U.S. in 1962. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Merle Centner of Derry, N.H.; daughter, Helen Collipi and her husband, Ralph, of Londonderry, N.H.; son, Albert Centner and his wife, Susan, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass.; granddaughters, Nikki Sue Cruikshank and her husband, Scott, of Newbury, Mass., and Kristina Collipi and her friend, Benjamin Brown of Derry. Robert Warren Evans, 89
Center Barnstead, NH — Robert Warren Evans, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Concord Hospital, Concord, N.H. Mr. Evans was born in Hillsboro, N.H., on Dec. 8, 1924, a son of the late Paul B. and Marion (Gilson) Evans. He was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry, Class of 1942. On Jan. 21, 1945, he married Barbara Jean Merrill of Derry, N.H. He went into the military (Navy) with several of his brothers in 1942 and served for three years as an engineer 1st class. After the war, he returned home to Derry and built his own house on Hillside Avenue. He got a job at PSNH in Manchester, where he became assistant to the vice president and worked there for 39 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Londonderry Presbyterian Church, a director of the Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, member and chairman of the Londonderry Board of Adjustment, a member of the American Legion and VFW, and one of the founding members and director of the Londonderry Bank and Trust. He moved his family to Londonderry in the 1950s and with his wife, Barbara, began running a summer camp (Twin Gate Farm), which they ran for over 20 years. He loved working on the farm and involving himself in all the operations of the farm including helping with haying well into his 80s. He was always busy with home improvement projects and kept himself in great shape. He was predeceased by five brothers, Paul Evans, Arthur Evans, Ronald Evans, Howard Evans and Lawrence Evans and grandson, Brandon Evans.Continued ...

Derry, NH — Mary A. (Quinn) Hargraves, age 82, of Derry, N.H., formerly of Lynn, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus in Lowell, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late George J. Hargraves Jr., and the daughter of the late Joseph Michael and Flora Mae (Noyes) Quinn. Born in Boston, Mary was raised in Jamaica Plain. She was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas School in Jamaica Plain, and Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. Mary lived most of her life in Lynn, until moving to New Hampshire in recent years to be with her family. She worked as a bookkeeper for Oxford-Hopkins Shoe Company, Young’s Furniture and Lennox Hill Nursing Home. She enjoyed reading, shopping, dining out, and working Sudoko puzzles. She had a special fondness of caring for her daughter's Irish Setter dogs.Continued ...
