Wells, Maine — Norman Whittemore Bangs, Jr., 70, of Wells, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at York Hospital in York, ME. He was born in Derry, NH on March 25, 1943, the son of Norman Whittemore Bangs, Sr., and Geraldine (Scribner) Bangs. He grew up in Derry, NH, graduating from Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1963.
A gifted entrepreneur, Norman took over the former-Bangs Trailer Park in Derry after his father’s death. Norman’s real estate enterprises blossomed from there—owning and operating business ventures throughout New Hampshire and Maine. Norman was an avid collector of antiques and enjoyed traveling, time on the beach, classic cars, and poker. A man with a sharp mind and witty sense of humor, Norman will be sorely missed by friends, family, and loved-ones.
Norman is survived by Sandra Bocchino of Wells, ME; Marilyn Bangs of York, ME; his brother, Peter Charles Bangs of Derry, NH; his sister, Susan Bangs MacDougall of Eliot, ME; his daughter, Alison Lee Horrox of Doylestown, PA; two stepsons, Laurence Alvarez and David Bethune; four granddaughters, Jamison Horrox, Alia Horrox, Tawny Alvarez, and Whitney Olitch; one great-grandchild; five nephews; as well as close lifelong friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, Larry Vincent Bangs in 2012.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours were on Monday, November 11, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 7 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, ME.
