Ellen Watts, 85


Nottingham, N.H. — Ellen C. Watts, 85, died September 21, 2012 at the Villa Crest nursing facility in Manchester, N.H. She was born July 10, 1927 in Londonderry, N.H., only daughter of the late Harry N. Clark and Esther M. (Watts) Clark. Ellen lived the majority of her life in Londonderry. In 1948, she married Carl A. Watts and together they had two children.

Ellen enjoyed a lifelong career working for the government. She started as a civilian military recruiter, then worked secretarial with the I.R.S. for 20 years. Ellen later took a secretarial position with the Housing Urban Development (HUD) until that individual department was being closed. She went to Boston, MA. for additional training and ended her career as a housing appraiser for HUD. After retirement, Ellen became a real estate agent and later a broker.

Ms. Watts was a member of the Raymond United Methodist Church, and a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels with the church. She was active with Ray-Fre senior trips and activities. In her spare time, she truly enjoyed square, round dancing and also clogging. Ellen was a member of various local dancing clubs. She also enjoyed following politics and supporting the Republican party.

Since 1986, she had resided in Nottingham, N.H. and also spent the last 20 years wintering in Ocala, Fla. In her life, Ellen always strived to do the right thing and continuously tried to be a better person.

She was pre deceased by her longtime companion, Charles Tarr.

Ellen is survived by her daughter, Kathryn E. Hilton of Wells, ME., her son and his wife, Gary and Sandie Watts of Bedford, N.H., four grandchildren, Jennifer Miller of Kennebunk, Maine, Brianne Miller of Kennebunk, Maine, Mark Watts of Bedford, N.H., and Dave Watts of Bedford, N.H.; and several great-grandchildren.

ARRANGEMENTS: There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Raymond United Methodist Church, Raymond, N.H. Burial will follow in the New Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond, N.H.
