Ellen Watts, 85

Nottingham, N.H. — Ellen C. Watts, 85, died September 21, 2012 at the Villa Crest nursing facility in Manchester, N.H. She was born July 10, 1927 in Londonderry, N.H., only daughter of the late Harry N. Clark and Esther M. (Watts) Clark. Ellen lived the majority of her life in Londonderry. In 1948, she married Carl A. Watts and together they had two children.

Ellen enjoyed a lifelong career working for the government. She started as a civilian military recruiter, then worked secretarial with the I.R.S. for 20 years. Ellen later took a secretarial position with the Housing Urban Development (HUD) until that individual department was being closed. She went to Boston, MA. for additional training and ended her career as a housing appraiser for HUD. After retirement, Ellen became a real estate agent and later a broker.

Ms. Watts was a member of the Raymond United Methodist Church, and a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels with the church. She was active with Ray-Fre senior trips and activities. In her spare time, she truly enjoyed square, round dancing and also clogging. Ellen was a member of various local dancing clubs. She also enjoyed following politics and supporting the Republican party.

Since 1986, she had resided in Nottingham, N.H. and also spent the last 20 years wintering in Ocala, Fla. In her life, Ellen always strived to do the right thing and continuously tried to be a better person.

She was pre deceased by her longtime companion, Charles Tarr.

Ellen is survived by her daughter, Kathryn E. Hilton of Wells, ME., her son and his wife, Gary and Sandie Watts of Bedford, N.H., four grandchildren, Jennifer Miller of Kennebunk, Maine, Brianne Miller of Kennebunk, Maine, Mark Watts of Bedford, N.H., and Dave Watts of Bedford, N.H.; and several great-grandchildren.

ARRANGEMENTS: There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Raymond United Methodist Church, Raymond, N.H. Burial will follow in the New Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, care of the Raymond United Methodist Church, 51 Main St., Raymond, NH 03077.

    Andover, MA — Rita M. Bartel, 89, of Andover, MA, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, in the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA. She was born in Cambridge, MA, on February 24, 1925, a daughter of the late Charles and Rose (McDonald) McCafferty. Having been raised in Cambridge, she was a graduate of Cambridge High & Latin School. Later, she resided in Tewksbury, MA for many years where she raised her family. She had worked for Macy's in Lowell, MA for many years, through three store names starting with Bon Marche' Dept. Store. Rita enjoyed her time spent at Atria Marland Place in Andover, MA, since July of 2013 where she resided in the Life Guidance Section. She was an avid reader. Rita will be remembered for being a very giving and generous person, asking nothing in return.

  • Andrew E. McDivitt Jr., 85

    Holland, IA — Andrew Edwin McDivitt Jr. was called home on January 22, 2014. He passed away at his home in Holland, Iowa that he shared with the love of his life, Marjorie Chase McDivitt, his wife of 63 years. They married on May 27, 1950. As we celebrate Ed's life we will often think of the great achievements he made since his birth on September 8, 1928, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, where he was born to his parents, Andrew Edwin McDivitt Sr. and Gertrude Curry McDivitt. He was raised with his younger brother, Donald Curry McDivitt, who left us in 2008.

    Derry, NH — Marsha (Seiden) Starkeson, 68, of Derry, New Hampshire.

    Predeceased by her parents, Karl and Lillian, her beautiful daughter, Ellen Rebecca, and her sister, Carol, Marsha left us much too soon on March 13, 2014, after a brave battle with cancer. Marsha leaves behind her four siblings, Susie Seiden, Portsmouth, NH, Louie Seiden (Marcia), Naples, FL, Mike Seiden (Amy), Margate, NJ and Karen Seiden, Long Branch, NJ; as well as "brother," Tom Ungerer of Viera, FL; six outstanding nephews and nine great-nieces and nephews. Her beloved furry feline kids, Sweetie and Mama, remained by her side providing great comfort and affection in her final days.

    Sandown, NH — Despite his strong will, Alan R. Beaudette, 58, of Sandown, N.H., lost his battle against cancer on March 18, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Alan was born in Methuen, Mass., on July 23, 1955, and was the son of Emilia (Gaudet) Beaudette and C. Henry Beaudette. In 1986, Alan, nickname "Bear," married Cheryl (Bishop) Beaudette. They lived in Sandown, N.H., for 30 years, where he built his dream home for his family in 2000.

    Derry, NH — Victor Gallucci, Jr., 74, of Derry, NH, passed Saturday, March 15, 2014, at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born May 12, 1939, in Boston, MA, and was a son of the late Victor, Sr. and Philomena (Cardinelli) Gallucci. Mr. Gallucci was raised and educated in East Boston and had resided in Derry for the past 40 years. Mr. Gallucci served in the U.S. Army and Massachusetts Army National Guard from 1960 to 1964, during the Vietnam era. He was employed for most of his working life as a cabinet maker with Plasto Manufacturing. He enjoyed horse racing and cherished his family and friends.

He was born in Boston, MA, on October 31, 1944, the son of Kenneth D. and Helen (Koskie) Gillespie, Sr. Ken was a 1963 graduate of Manchester Memorial High School. After graduation he joined the National Guard where he served for 6 years. He was joined in marriage on August 21, 1965, with Shirley Ann Bartlett. Ken was a mechanic and specialized in auto body restoration. He also enjoyed drag racing and NASCAR.
