Derry, NH — Vondelle Lee Bates, 83, of Derry, N.H., died April 25, 2013, in Aurora Senior Living in Derry. Mrs. Bates was born in Weymouth, Mass., on December 22, 1929, a daughter of the late Irving and Gertrude (Sandel) Forman. She resided in Derry for over 25 years, formerly living in Windham, N.H. She was employed for Filene’s Department Store in Manchester, N.H., for more than 25 years. Mrs. Bates enjoyed sailing with her husband, spending time on the beach in Maine, reading, and working in the garden. In addition, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Konkol and her husband, Paul, of Derry; one son, Richard Bates and his wife, Robin McIntosh, of Camden, Maine; three grandchildren, Brian Bates, Ken Gurley and his wife, Mariel, and Lindsey Konkol; one great-granddaughter, Willamina Vondelle Gurley; one brother, Ed Forman of Cape Cod; one sister, Arlene Merline of Franklin, Mass., also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Carlton Bates, and by her sisters, Joan Hager and Dorothy Burk.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be held Monday, April 29, 2013, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry.
