Derry, NH — Russell N. Holm, 96, of Derry, NH, died Sunday, December 1, 2013, in the Parkland Medical Center in Derry. He was born on March 24, 1917, a son of the late Alfred and Barbara (Theiss) Holm. A lifelong resident of Derry, he was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1936. Mr. Holm was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII on the USS North Carolina where he was a Plank Owner. He had been employed as a Postmaster for the Town of Derry. Mr. Holm was a former member of the Lions Club, and enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, and was a collector of WWII memorabilia.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bertha (Wiggins) Holm of Derry; two sons, Michael Holm and his wife, Paula, of Derry, and William Holm and his wife, Catherine, of Derry; five grandchildren, Heather Bell and her husband, Brian, Sarah Roy and her husband, Jeremy, Daniel Holm, Taylor Holm, and Angelique Holm; as well as ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Steven Holm and Richard Holm.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours were held on Tuesday, December 3, from 3 - 7 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. The burial with Navy honors was in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry Road, East Derry.
