J. Matthew Shumpert, 35

J. Matthew Shumpert, 35, a resident of Windham, N.H., passed from this life, to life eternal Friday, Aug. 13, 2010 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.

Born in Columbia, S.C., Aug. 1, 1975, to Teddy and Gloria (Burton) Shumpert, he worked as a technician for the Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company for the past four years.

Mr. Shumpert was a member of the Salem Bible Church and was a member of the Bob Jones Alumni Association, where he received his associate degree in aviation. He enjoyed piloting, soccer, fishing and telling jokes. The people he met were but strangers once... they were friends the rest of his days. He also leaves his parents, Teddy and Gloria Shumpert of South Carolina; his sisters, Julie B. Shumpert and Sherry D. Shumpert, both of South Carolina; his in-laws, Bob and Pam Lundquist of Windham; his maternal grandmother, Ellen Friend of North Carolina; his paternal grandmother, Mae Shumpert of South Carolina; and many aunts and uncles.

ARRANGEMENTS: The family will receive friends Wednesday, Aug. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Peabody Funeral Home, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, N.H. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Aug. 19, 11 a.m. at the Salem Bible Church, 11 Ermer Road, Salem, N.H. The interment will be held Friday, Aug. 20, at 1 p.m. in the Sawtelle Cemetery in Sidney, Maine.
