Cape Coral, FL — James Patrick Devine, also known as Crowbar, 68, passed away of a massive heart attack on March 8, 2014, at his home in Cape Coral, Fla.
Born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1945, in Derry, N.H., he was a proud graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1963. He was an avid golfer and a loyal sports fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
He joined the Navy in 1965 and was in schooling to be a Polaris Sub-Mariner when he became ill with diabetes and was medically retired from active duty. James was a computer software engineer for 35-plus years and retired from AT&T.
He was the oldest of three boys born to John T. Devine and Ruth M. Devine, longtime resident of Derry, N.H. James moved to Florida in 1978 and lived in Dunedin, Jacksonville, North Fort Myers, and lastly in Cape Coral.
James is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Devine; four sons and a daughter, James P. Devine Jr., Lisa Maras, Robert Devine, Derrick Devine, and Michael Devine; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his mother, Ruth Devine of Cape Coral; brothers, John L. Devine of Liberty Hill, Texas, and Fredric W. Devine of Hooksett, N.H.
James' life was remembered and celebrated by a family gathering at his home in Cape Coral. His cremated remains were respectfully honored and displayed. James joins his deceased father, John T. Devine, in Heaven and no doubt they play cards and talk sports. They are now in the hands of God; may they forever rest in peace.
