Londonderry, New Hampshire — Wayland H. Elwood, 95, life-long resident of Londonderry, New Hampshire died at his home in Londonderry surrounded by his family on Saturday evening, June 9, 2012.
He was born on the family farm, Elwood Orchards, June 15, 1916 in Londonderry, New Hampshire, a son of the late Nettie A. (Smith) and Wayland C. Elwood. Upon his father’s death in 1928, Mr. Elwood assumed additional responsibilities assisting his mother with the farm operations. Upon his mother’s death, Mr. Elwood assumed ownership of Elwood Orchards where he continued to work until his death.
He was the husband of the late Pauline D. (Beaton) Elwood, who died on September 28, 2009. They had been married for 63 years.
He was a Golden Sheaf member of the Londonderry Grange #44. Mr. Elwood was a member of the NH Fruit Grower’s Association and also a member of the Londonderry Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, Pauline and parents, he was pre-deceased by a daughter, Paula E. Davidson, a sister, Amy Hills, and a brother, Quentin Elwood.
Survivors include two sons, Wayland C. Elwood and his wife Ann and Wayne G. Elwood and his wife Linda all of Londonderry; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: There are no visiting hours. A Graveside Service will be held in Glenwood Cemetery, Mammoth Road, Londonderry on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10 A.M. Friends are invited to attend.
