Derry, NH — Arlene K. Varney, 96, of Derry, N.H. died on Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. She was born on December 23, 1916 in Warren, Vt. a daughter of the late, Horace and Albena (Decost) Kingsbury.
Mrs. Varney was a resident of Derry most of her life. She was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Derry, class of 1935. Prior to her retirement, Arlene was employed as a packer for Klev-Bro Shoe Company in Derry and previously worked for Pratt and Whitney during war time. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, in Derry. She enjoyed knitting.
She is survived by one son, Pete Varney of New Boston; one daughter, Kay Gruell of Gorham; one grandson, Nicholas Duval; three granddaughters, Laurie A. Woodard, Jennifer Belouin, and Chrissy Frink; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Woodard, Eric Woodard, Kayla Belouin, Kyle Belouin, and Lydia Yvonne Duval; one great-great-granddaughter, Autumn McAllister, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Varney in1984; one daughter, Maureen Duval in 1988; one son, Norman Frink in 2002; and one granddaughter, Marybeth Hinkle.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 3 – 6 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry Road, East Derry.
