Ed was an active member of the I.O.O.F. Echo Lodge #61 and Mizpah Rebecca Lodge #15 in Derry, NH. He was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking, fishing and family. After retiring Ed and Marjorie moved back to Iowa to settle onto a small acreage so they could enjoy the country life.
Ed is described by his great-grandchildren as the following: Great-Grandpa is one of the most hard working and intelligent men we've ever known. Even with all the pain from his cancer he would still smile and joke trying to have a good time. He was a truly amazing person who loved to talk and could talk to anyone at any time. He was a patient man who rarely got angry as he did not want to waste his time with negativity. He shared many stories of his life and loved telling stories, especially of their life when living in the Virgin Islands. He passed on the old fashion day morals to his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. He would give the shirt off his back to help others and many times he and Marjorie took in people who had no place to live and never asked for anything in return.
Our family has lost a great love, friend and mentor. He has moved on to another stage of being, still looking out for his family, we have no doubt he watches over us. It is from another world, he waits for us all to join him along with our other loved ones who have passed on.
