Sarasota, FL — Rolande Denise Côté Aubuchon, age 95, died peacefully June 27, 2012, of congestive heart failure In Sarasota, FL. She had been a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry, NH, where she lived for over 60 years, raising four children with her husband, Maurice A. Aubuchon, Sr., who died in 1968. She is survived by their four children; Suzanne (Ken) Harris of Alexandria, VA, Elaine (Gerry) Letendre of Sarasota, FL, Maurice (Lorraine) Aubuchon of Plymouth, MA, and Lise (Bill) Letendre of Sugar Land, TX; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Born February 10, 1917, in Fitchburg, MA. At an early age Rolande and her older sister were sent to be educated in Quebec, while their widowed mother remained in Fitchburg to manage a family business and properties. After the sisters graduated, they attended Stevens Business School, later named Fitchburg Business College. Rolande married Maurice in 1943 in Fitchburg; they moved to Ft. Wayne, IN, where their two older children, Suzanne and Elaine, were born. The family returned to New England in 1946, where Maurice became the manager of the family-owned Standard Sash and Door Company in Derry, N.H. They raised their family there (including two additional children, Maurice, Jr. and Lise) until Maurice’s untimely death in 1968. Rolande remained in Derry for another 38 years, until 2006 when it became difficult for her to live alone. Then she began living with her four children and their families in Texas, Florida, Virginia, and Massachusetts, until health issues made it necessary for her to remain in Florida and receive specialized care.
Rolande treasured her family and her close circle of friends. Besides being a warm and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loyal friend, she will always be remembered as fun loving and as a classy little lady.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, at St. Joseph Parish, 49 Woodland St. Fitchburg, MA, followed immediately by a burial service nearby at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 486 Clarendon Street in Fitchburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Rolande’s memory to a local hospice.
