Marion G. Nichols, 76, of Derry, N.H., died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, following a period of declining health.
She was born on June 4, 1934 in Dorchester, Mass., the daughter of the late James and Marion (Cote) Dyckman. Being the daughter of a Naval Lt. Commander, she lived all over the world. She was a resident of Derry for the past nine years. Previously, she lived in Detroit, Maine, and spent 30 years in Scituate, Mass.
Mrs. Nichols worked in the radiology field, having worked as a night supervisor for South Shore Hospital and a chief at Massachusetts Respiratory Hospital. Marion was a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Rolling Thunder, Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Derry Garden Club. She was an avid reader and played the harp. Marion loved the ocean, sailing and gardening. She also enjoyed ceramics, carving and painting as well.
Mrs. Nichols is survived by her children, Russell Forsythe and his fiancee Denise Murphy of Abington, Mass., Kathleen Fuller and husband Scott Fuller of Derry, and Michelle Dunlap and husband Jay Dunlap of Norridgewock, Maine; four grandchildren, Amanda and Angela Dunlap and Christian and Ryan Fuller; great-granddaughter, Kylie Marie Dunlap; two brothers, Jim and John Dyckman, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Captain Arthur E. Nichols, Jr., who died in 2001.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry, N.H., on Saturday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. There were no calling hours. Interment was private.
