Arthur Joseph "Joe" Marquis, Jr., 85


Winter Haven, FL — Arthur Joseph “Joe” Marquis, Jr., 85, of Winter Haven, Fla., and a former longtime resident of Derry, N.H., passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center due to respiratory failure.

Joe was born September 6, 1927, in Derry, N.H., the son of the late Arthur Joseph Marquis, Sr. and Alice (Lacasse) Marquis. He was a World War II Army Veteran and was awarded the World War II Victory and Army of Occupation medals, having served in the European Theater. He was a resident of Winter Haven, Fla., for several years and a member of Beymer United Methodist Church in Winter Haven.

Joe retired from Digital Communications as a Security Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Louise (Bennett) Marquis of Winter Haven; three sisters, Lorraine Routhier of Derry, N.H., Claire Lewis of Gilford, N.H., and Joann Ross of Epping, N.H.; and other extended family.

ARRANGEMENTS: There are no calling hours. Services will be private. Burial will be in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, N.H.
