Hamilton, MT — Marilyn E. Lamson, 89, of Hamilton, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013. Born on November 26, 1923, in Haverhill, MA, the daughter of the late Ralph and Edith (Couch) Hall, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Janet of Manchester, CT, her son-in-law, Michael Mertins of Hamilton, two grandsons, and five great-grandchildren. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Floyd, and her daughter, Karen Mertins, both of Hamilton.
Marilyn was raised in Derry, NH where she attended school, graduating from Pinkerton Academy in 1940.
She was employed by the First National Bank in Derry and then as school librarian in the Londonderry, NH school district from which she retired in 1978. Marilyn and Floyd were avid world travelers covering Europe, the Far East, Australia and New Zealand, the Middle East, and most of the United States. They enjoyed square dancing and round dancing and became involved as officers and board members of the international organization.
Marilyn was actively involved in Sweet Adelines International and was the director of the chorus in Derry from the mid-1950s until the mid-1960s leading the chorus to regional championships in 1958 and 1961. The Derry chorus was the first chartered chapter of Sweet Adelines International in New Hampshire.
Private family interment will take place at a later date at the wishes of the family.
