Franklin M. Ackerman, 86
Franklin M. Ackerman, 86, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2007 at the Franciscan Care Center Toledo, Ohio.
The son of Royal and Eva, he was born March 24, 1921 in Salem, N.H. Franklin married the love of his life, Doris Edmunds on Nov. 15, 1941.
He bought the Ackerman Lumber Yard from his father and operated the business until 1972. Franklin and his family moved to Ohio where he pursued a calling as a Methodist pastor.
He was an avid woodworker and a volunteer firefighter back in New Hampshire.
Surviving are his wife, Doris; sons, Peter and Paul (Jean) Ackerman; grandchildren, Alicia, Eve, Angela, Norman, Michael, Jennifer, and David; brother, Roger of Salem, N.H.; and sister, Charlotte of Millville, Del. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Shirley Masry; sons, Franklin W. and David Alan Ackerman; and grandson, Franklin David Ackerman
ARRANGEMENTS: There will be no visitation or services. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in East Derry, N.H. Memorial contributions may be given to the Franciscan Care Center, 4111 N. Mary L. Dupere, 77
Mary L. Dupere, 77, of Derry, N.H., died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry following a brief battle with cancer.
Mary was born on April 8, 1930 in Worcester, a daughter of John Jerome and Catherine (Fullen) Griffin.
She graduated from North High School in Worcester. Mary married Armand P. Dupere, Sr. on Sept. 8, 1951. Mary, along with her husband and children, were residents of Londonderry, N.H. for 30 years, where she was a communicant of St. Jude Parish, before moving to Jefferson, N.H. She and her husband moved back to Derry in 2005, residing at Nutfield Heights Senior Center. Mary was a dedicated and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved taking care of her children, grandchildren and her gardens.
In addition to her husband of 56 years, she is survived by six sons, John Dupere and his wife Elaine of Strafford, N.H., William Dupere and his wife Judith of Manchester, N.H., Raymond Dupere and his wife Sandra of Newbury, N.H., Philip Dupere of Derry, Peter Dupere of Weare, N.H., and Armand Dupere Jr. and his wife Christine of Barrington; two daughters, Rosemary and her husband Kenneth Boisvert of Gorham, N.H., Elizabeth and her partner Paul Raiti of Lee, N.H.; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Barbara Trombley of Columbia, Maine, and Agnes Quaglieri of Shrewsbury. She was predeceased by a sister, Claire Hallisey and a brother, Daniel Griffin.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours were held on Friday, Jan. 4 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. The burial will be in the NH State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Lynne H. Gore, 69, of New Ipswich, N.H., died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008 in the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, N.H.
Mrs. Gore was born in Englewood, N.J. on Jan. 17, 1938, a daughter of the late Newell Paul and Gladys Marie (Loeb) Hurd.
She was a registered nurse, having graduated from Englewood School of Nursing in Englewood, N.J.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, had a great love for animals and enjoyed gardening. She attended Cavalry Bible Church in Derry.
She is survived by three sons, Jeffrey L. Gore and his wife Michele of Derry, Steven N. Gore and his wife Kimberly of Windham, N.H. and Shawn K. Gore and his wife Lisa of Sandown, N.H.; two daughters, Heather L. Vosburg and her husband Brad of Brentwood, Tenn. and Cheryl E. Lubecki and her husband Edgar of Dudley; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Bruce N. and Allan G. Hurd, both of Sidney, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John LaFrance Gore in 1982.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends called on Monday, Jan. 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Germaine L. Kraunelis, 84
Germaine "Gerry Lee" Lillian Kraunelis, 84, of 23 Linlew Drive #24, Derry, N.H., died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, in Derry from cancer.
She was born in Lawrence on Jan. 16, 1923 to Virginia and Henry Hamel.
Born into a musical family, and a professional country singer herself, she was known professionally as "Gerry Lee."
Gerry was of French-Canadian/Native American descent, the youngest of 17 children. She was greatly influenced by her musical upbringing and by the age of 15, in the late 1930s, she was performing at various musical events. Gerry and her group traveled around the Northeast circuit playing barn dances and school auditoriums, as well as doing the radio shows that were common in the wee hours of the morning. They also made several 78 rpm recordings in New York in the mid-1940s. Gerry retired from performing in 1948 to raise her son, Roger, himself now a bluegrass musician and singer.
In her later years her activities mostly centered around the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall congregation in Derry, N.H.
She is survived by her son, Roger Demers of Glastonbury, Conn.; and her three grandchildren, Jonathan David Demers, Jennifer and Melissa Demers. She was preceded in death in 1992 by her beloved husband, Benjamin Kraunelis.

Frank J. Zysk, 60
Frank J. Zysk, 60, of Derry, N.H., formerly of Lynn, died after a brief illness on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2007 at Parkland Medical Center, Derry, N.H., surrounded by his family. He was the husband of 39 years of Katherine E. (Glynn) Zysk.
Born in Concord, N.H., he was the son of the late Frank C. and Mary (Howley) Zysk. He grew up in Lynn and graduated from Essex Agricultural and Technical School. He moved to New Hampshire over 35 years ago.
In 1966, Frank started working at the G.E. in Lynn and Wilmington, which became Ametek, Wilmington, where he worked as a quality control inspector. He served in the Mass. National Guard and was an avid gardener.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter Tracey E. Zysk of North Andover; a brother, Robert Zysk of Peabody; a sister, Karen Zysk of Lynn; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Charles Zysk.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, Lynn, followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. While at Pinkerton Academy he played on All Star and Championship football and basketball teams and was voted by his classmates to be the best school athlete and most popular student. He had worked for NH Egg Producers in Derry and for Sanders Associates of Nashua. He retired in 1989 from Kolsman Corp. in Merrimack, NH. Mr. Mauzy was also a member of St. Mark's Masonic Lodge #44 F & AM of Derry. -

She was born July 12, 1935 in Portland, Oregon to Marion Grace (Ellsworth) Pennington and Charles William Pennington. Nancy's lifelong love of language and learning led to her studies at Mount Holyoke College from which she graduated summa cum laude in May of 1957 with a degree in English Literature and Composition. In June of 1957 she married, Robert F. Cobban with whom she shared 51 wonderful years. Nancy, her husband, and their three children settled in Derry, NH in 1971. There, Nancy began her professional career in earnest.
