Manchester, NH — Marilyn J. (Wood) Monti, 82, daughter of William and Ada (Rokes) Wood, born on March 6, 1931, in North Andover, Mass., passed peacefully in her home on January 1, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn enjoyed sewing and camping. Together, with her husband, they worked for Catholic Charities and later the State of Massachusetts as foster parents, having cared for more than 107 children over the years. They also adopted four children. They would travel together, camping across the U.S. and Canada several times.
She later moved to Englewood, Fla., and continued working with children, becoming the manager of a child care center there. After a brief illness, she moved to New Hampshire, settling in at Nashua Crossings, making new friends. She enjoyed the sing-alongs held there. She recently moved to Manchester to her daughter's home.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 62 years, Raymond; two daughters, Linda Saucier and her husband, Richard, of Manchester, and Maryellen Fafard of Venice, Fla.; one son, Robert Monti of Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. She was predeceased by her son, Peter Monti.
ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 10, at 2 p.m. at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, N.H.
