March 21, 2008 10:28 am John David Kennedy, 75, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla. He was a mechanical engineer for Raytheon Co. in Andover, Mass., for 27 years. He retired in June 1992 and moved to Palm Beach, Fla., from Derry, N.H. In retirement he was an avid golfer at Crane Creek Reserve in Melbourne, Fla. He was an active member of the VFW Post 4206 in Melbourne. He was born in Biddeford, Maine, in 1932, attended school in Saco, Maine, graduating from Thornton Academy, Class of 1949. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the aircraft carrier Oriskany. He was predeceasd by stepson George M. Goggin. He is survived by his wife, Lillia (Matarozzo), of Palm Bay; brothers Erwin E. of Connecticut and Robert B. of Maine; daughter Gail of Biddeford, Maine; as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held on March 28, 2008, at the VFW Post, Dairy Road, in Melbourne, Fla. In lieu of flowers, contributions maybe made to VFW Post 4206.
