Sidney E. Bailey, 74, of Londonderry, N.H. died January 18, 2008 in D'Youville Senior Care, Lowell.
Mr. Bailey was born in Portland, Maine, on Sept. 24, 1933, the son of the late Earl C. and Mary T. (Lynch) Bailey. He had resided in Londonderry since 1970, formerly living in North Andover and Danvers.
Mr. Bailey was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served during the Korean War. He retired in 1998 from Lucent Technologies in North Andover where he was employed for 38 years.
He was a former communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Gilford, N.H. He snowmobiled until the last few years and liked to garden in his earlier years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anna J. (Miller) Bailey of Londonderry, one son, Kevin Bailey and his wife Gercimar of Lowell, one daughter, Cheryl Ravesi and her husband Michael of Marlborough, five grandchildren, one sister, Marjorie Mallette of Middleton, also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul Bailey and Charles Bailey.

Margaret H. Cohane, 96
Margaret H. Cohane, 96, of Derry, N.H., died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 of natural causes in the Haven Health Center, Derry.
Mrs. Cohane was born in Woburn on Aug. 19, 1911, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Riordan) Hill.
She was a resident of Chester for many years, and was a retired homemaker and school teacher.
Mrs. Cohane was a communicant of Holy Cross Church, East Derry where she was a Eucharistic minister. She also was a member of the Greater Derry Care Givers, and a member of Fortnightly Club of Chester.
She is survived by two sons, Timothy M. Cohane of Newport, R.I., and Peter M. Cohane of Jupiter, Fla.; five daughters, Miss Margaret Mary Cohane of Andover, Mrs. Betsy Smith of Golden, Colo., Dr. Rosemary Cohane Erpf of Atlanta, Mrs. Ellen C. DePalma of Chester, N.H., and Miss Mary T. Cohane of Portchester, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Miss R. Lorraine Hill of Branford, Conn.; and also by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Timothy H. Cohane in 1989, who was Professor Emeritus of Journalism at Boston University and a sports writer for many years. She was also predeceased by three sisters and two brothers.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours were held from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2008 in Holy Cross Church, 187 Hampstead Road, East Derry. Cornelia Durning, 81
Cornelia "Toots" Durning, 81, of Las Vegas, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 in the Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, Las Vegas.
Mrs. Durning was born in Malden on Dec. 6, 1926, the youngest of seven children of the late Gerrit and Teuntje (Marizon) deGroot.
While still young she and her family moved to Derry, N.H. and took up farming. She had a passion for growing things that lasted from then until her last day.
In 1956 she married Chester P. "Chet" Durning Sr.
After retiring they traveled most of the east coast from Florida in the winter to Maine in the summer. They moved to Virginia in 2000. After Chet passed away in 2002, Toots stayed in Virginia until 2006 when she moved to Las Vegas after having a stroke to be closer to her son. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting things for her friends and family.
She is survived by a son, Edward P. Durning; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Fournier; granddaughter, Anastasia; her brother, Jacob deGroot; and sister, Wilhelmina. In addition to many nieces and nephews living in and around Derry, she is also survived by grandsons, Chester P. Durning III and Andrew Durning.

hyllis H. Gillette, 83
Phyllis H. Gillette, 83, of Londonderry, N.H., died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 in the Parkland Medical Center in Derry.
Mrs. Gillette was born in Derry on April 27, 1924, a daughter of the late Charles D. and Eva P. (Chase) Harriman, and was a lifelong resident of Londonderry.
She married William A. Gillette on Nov. 22, 1951. Mrs. Gillette was a member of the Mizpah Rebekah Lodge 15 in Derry.
She is survived by her husband, William A. Gillette of Londonderry; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter Patty in 1967 and her son Charles in 2005.

Helen A. Rogers, 85
Helen A. (Garvey) Rogers, 85, of Somerville, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at Haven Health Care, Derry, N.H. after a long illness.
Born on April 2, 1922 in Somerville, she was a resident there most of her life.
She was the beloved wife of the late Francis D. Rogers; loving mother of David P. Rogers, Joan E. Rogers and Karen Chisholm, all of Derry, N.H.; sister of Robert Garvey of Cohasset, Richard Garvey of Billerica, Mary Elliot, Irene Kocher, both of Hyde Park, Ann Sutton of Tewksbury and the late John Garvey Jr.; dear grandmother of Diana, David, Kara Chisholm, Jeffrey, Christopher and Laura Rogers; great-grandmother of Ian Paul.

Barbara A. Steenson, 74
Barbara A. Steenson, 74, of Londonderry, N.H. died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 at her home.
Mrs. Steenson was born in Union City, N.J. on Oct. 9, 1933, the daughter of the late Marshall and Alice (Bubli) Stepanian. She had resided in Londonderry for the past 34 years, formerly living in N. Brunswick, N.J. Mrs. Steenson was a graduate of Jersey City State Teachers College and had been employed as a teacher in the Cresskill School District for many years. While living in Londonderry she taught preschool at the Londonderry Presbyterian Church and was president of Friends of Music at the Londonderry High School. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert S. Steenson of Londonderry; one daughter, Susan B. Steenson of Londonderry; two sons, Robert J. Steenson and his wife Linda of Canterbury, N.H., Jeffrey E. Steenson and his wife Nancy of Danville, N.H.; two granddaughters, Anna Quinn Steenson and Joy Alexandra Steenson; her sister, Arveda Stepanian of Londonderry; also many nieces and nephews.
