Ramon Cintron, 81, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008 at Morningside Care Center, Bronx, N.Y.
The son on Vidal and Julia, he was born April 28, 1926 in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico.
Ramon having retired over 20 years ago had ended his over 30 year career as a chef at Rinaldo's in New York.
During his retirement he enjoyed traveling, and was still an avid creator of Italian style cuisine.
He will always be remembered as a loyal husband, devoted father, and grandfather.
Ramon is survived and will be missed by his wife Paulita of 44 years, his sons, Raphael of Derry, N.H., Ricardo of Union City, N.J., and daughter Aracelis of Chester, N.Y.
ARRANGEMENTS: Private services were held Jan. 11, 2008 at Borinquen Memorial Funeral Home in Brooklyn, N.Y. from 3 to 9 p.m. He was laid to rest on Jan. 12, 2008 at Pinelawn Cemetery, Long Island, N.Y.
Marjorie M. Nixon, 79
Marjorie M. Nixon, 79, of Derry, N.H., died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008 in the Concord Hospice in Concord, N.H., following a long courageous battle with cancer.
Mrs. Nixon was born in Lynn, on Nov. 7, 1928, a daughter of the late Ernest and Irene (Stanchfield) Sanborn. She was a resident of Derry since 1971, formerly living in Windham, N.H.
Mrs. Nixon was a longtime employee of N.E. Telephone Co. in Derry as a switchboard operator.
She was a talented gardener and artist, and enjoyed sharing her paintings and colorful birdhouses with family and friends. Mrs. Nixon enjoyed a good book, good laughs and especially good friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha M. Joyce and her son-in-law Richard, both of Londonderry; two grandchildren, Matthew Joyce, and Kara Joyce; two stepdaughters, Cynthia Nixon Welch, and Lisa Nixon; two stepsons, Frederick T. "Jay" Nixon, and Richard Nixon; and one cousin, Irene Galloway. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick T. Nixon in 2004.
ARRANGEMENTS: Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, with a memorial service following at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Private burial will be in the Cemetery on the Hill in Windham in the spring. Beatrice D. Kennedy Seery, 91
Beatrice Delores "Betty" Kennedy Seery, 91, of Derry, N.H. died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 surrounded by her family at the home of Peg and Tim Croissant, her daughter and son-in-law of Mont Vernon, N.H.
Mrs. Seery was born Sept. 30, 1916 in Flushing, N.Y., the daughter of Daniel F. and Johanna (Hoppenthaler) Kennedy. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Edmond, Austin, Daniel and Lawrence Kennedy; and a sister, Margaret Lundstrom. She is survived by her sister, Claire Loughlin.
Growing up in Flushing on Murray Lane, was one of the most joyous times in Betty's life as she often spoke of the summer evening gatherings with family and friends drinking her mother's homemade root beer while her father and friends played music.
She was a registered nurse, who graduated from Mary Immaculate Hospital in Jamaica, N.Y. Betty worked in the hospital and in private practices for several years.
She married James Larkin Seery on May 16, 1942 and together had seven children. Mrs. Seery was predeceased by her husband and daughter, Barbara Seery. Surviving family members are six children and their spouses, James L. and Debby Seery, Joanne B. Seery; Mary J. (Seery) and Neil L. Talbott, Michael J. and Martha Seery, Martha E. Seery, and Margaret (Seery) and Timothy Croissant; and six grandchildren, James L. Seery, Matthew Seery, Rebecca Seery, Christina Talbott, Angela Karamolengos and Alex Karamolengos.
Betty and Jim (a retired Army Lt Col., 10th Mountain Division) were stationed throughout the United States and in Munich, Germany, during his Army career. She made friends that would last a lifetime every place they went. Betty radiated respect for people and until the end of her life, people would stop her and ask if she remembered them | and she always did.
She was a daughter, wife, mother and friend. She also served as a Girl Scout leader, president of the Mt. Pleasant PTA in Smithtown, N.Y., and a Religious Education (CCD) teacher in Smithtown and Derry, N.H. In addition, she faithfully served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry.
Betty Seery lived a long, healthy, and joyful life. She loved practicing and living her Catholic faith. As a result of her deep and abiding faith, she believed loving is a gift from God for you to pass on and use each day. She loved her family well, and they loved her in return.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass was held at St. Mel's Church in Flushing, N.Y. on Jan. 7, 2008. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry on Feb. 9, 2008 at 10 a.m. Gleason's Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. James R. Sharples, 82
James Richard Sharples, 82, formerly of Londonderry, N.H. died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008.
He was born May 4, 1925 in Newmarket, N.H. to Ruth Varney Sharples and Robert Sharples. He was raised in Laconia, N.H.
Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired after 20 years of service. He then took up a career in car sales for Genest Ford and Dobles Chevrolet of Manchester, N.H. and retired again after 24 years.
He married Barbara A. Merrill, Aug. 24, 1955 and both retired to Corpus Christi where Richard was very active in the Fleet Reserve Association Unit 94. Richard was also a Mason, a member of St. Marks 44, Derry N.H., and reached a 32 degree of Bektash Temple, Manchester, N.H. He was a member of the American Legion Post 27 of Londonderry, N.H. and a life-member of the V.F.W. of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; daughters, Jami Canino of New Hampshire and South Carolina and Suzanne Grossi of Illinois; four grandsons; brother, Bruce V. Sharples of Mississippi and nieces and nephews.
