  • Colin F. Formalarie, 82

    Colin F. Formalarie, 82, of Derry, N.H., died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry.
    Mr. Formalarie was born in Newton, Mass. on March 22, 1928, son of the late, Felix and Mary (Winfield) Formalarie. He had resided in Derry since 1989, formerly living in Tulsa, Okla. and Hudson, Mass. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War era. Mr. Formalarie retired in 1988 from Flight Safety International in Tulsa, where he worked as a Project Manager. He was formerly employed at Atkin's and Merrill in Maynard, Mass. where Colin built full size mock up models of space capsules for NASA.

  • Henry J. Dumas Jr., 76

    Henry J. Dumas Jr., 76, of Derry, N.H., died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at his home.
    He was born in Worcester on May 26, 1934, son of the late Dr. Henry and Anita (Beauschesne) Dumas. Mr. Dumas had been a resident of Derry for the past 39 years, formerly living in Worcester and Framingham. He grew up in Worcester, attended Worcester Academy, Worcester Polytechnic Institute and earned his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from M.I.T. Mr. Dumas was a member of the Gamma Sigma Chapter of the National Fraternity Alpha Tau Omega while at W.P.I. and was active with them throughout his life. He was also honored with membership in Sigma XI, a Scientific Research Society, for his life's work. Mr. Dumas was involved with R.O.T.C. while at W.P.I. and then served with the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Huachuca, Ariz. Following his retirement, he enjoyed the seven years he spent teaching at the NH Technical Institute in Manchester, N.H. He was a member of First Parish Congregational Church in Derry and had served on its Board of Trustees. Mr. Dumas enjoyed working on his cars, watching the Red Sox and the Patriots, following the Stock Market, photography and traveling the world during his working days. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their different events.

    Born in Medford, she lived in Chelsea for the past 48 years and was formerly of Medford. Carmela was the daughter of the late Angelina (Santoro) and Gabriel Donadio.

    DERRY, N.H. — Carol A. Rousseau, 57, of Derry, N.H., died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, in her home.
    She was born in Lawrence on March 13, 1953, a daughter of Walter and Lillian (Corriveau) Abovitch, and had been a resident of Derry for the past one-and-a-half years, formerly living in Windham, N.H. She had been employed as a supervisor at the MSPCA in Methuen for 23 years, and more recently as a cashier for the Hess Gas Station in Salem, N.H. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 1772 in Rochester, N.H. She enjoyed crafts, beading, gardening, loved her dogs, and her grandchildren, especially her grandson Dylan.

    DERRY, N.H. — Gary L. Sturgis, 57, of Derry, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury.
    He was born in Haverhill, on June 9, 1953, a son of Louise O. (White) Sturgis of Brentwood, and the late Charles E. Sturgis. Mr. Sturgis was raised in Danville, attending local schools before serving with the U.S. Marine Corps.

    J. Matthew Shumpert, 35, a resident of Windham, N.H., passed from this life, to life eternal Friday, Aug. 13, 2010 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
    Born in Columbia, S.C., Aug. 1, 1975, to Teddy and Gloria (Burton) Shumpert, he worked as a technician for the Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company for the past four years.

    Marianne Marley, 56, of Concord, N.H., died Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 at her residence after a sudden illness.
    She was born in Waltham on March 30, 1954, the daughter of William and Anna Mary (Logsden) Judkins. She graduated from Lexington, Mass. High School and received her nursing degree from the Somerville School of Nursing. Most recently, she had been employed by Aetna of Indiana. Previously, she had worked for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Holy Family Hospital and the North East Rehabilitation Center. As a professional nurse, Marianne exemplified all the characteristics of purity, sweetness, empathy and encouragement. A woman of strong religious conviction, she was truly chosen by God to do his work on this earth and will become the brightest star in the sky.

    MANCHESTER, N.H. — Catherine A. Menento, 48, of Manchester, N.H., died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010 at the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester.
    Catherine was born in Nashua, N.H., on Aug. 18, 1961, daughter of Clifton Smart and the late, Lillian (Grillo) Smart. She had lived in Manchester for the past five years, formerly living in Derry and Nashua. She was a 1981 graduate of Londonderry High School and had worked for Insight Technologies in Londonderry for the past 14 years. She enjoyed shopping, the ocean, cooking, eating and especially camping. Her favorite place to camp was at Hermit Island Campground in Bath, Maine. Simply put, she had a great sense of humor and was kind to all.

    She was born on Sept. 8, 1951 in Melrose, Mass., a daughter of the late Edward J. and Marie Shea. She was a resident of Londonderry for 28 years formerly living in Honolulu. Donna was a devoted wife and mother who really enjoyed spending time with her family. She was also an avid Red Sox fan.

    LONDONDERRY, N.H. — John P. O'Donnell, 46, of Londonderry, N.H., died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
    He was born in Danvers, son of James M. O'Donnell and the late Jane F. (McCarthy) O'Donnell. John was raised in Danvers and was a graduate of St. Mary of the Annunciation School and of St. John's Preparatory School, Class of 1982. He was also a graduate of Bentley University in Waltham, Class of 1986. He became a Certified Public Accountant shortly after graduation. John resided in New Hampshire for the past 24 years, the past 16 in Londonderry. He treasured his time with his wife and two children. He enjoyed coaching and watching his children at the rec fields.

    She was born on June 4, 1934 in Dorchester, Mass., the daughter of the late James and Marion (Cote) Dyckman. Being the daughter of a Naval Lt. Commander, she lived all over the world. She was a resident of Derry for the past nine years. Previously, she lived in Detroit, Maine, and spent 30 years in Scituate, Mass.

    Sarah E. Coberth, 18, of Derry, N.H., died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family and devoted friends.
    She was born in Manchester, N.H., on March 18, 1992, the beloved daughter of David and Jennifer (Ohrn) Coberth. Sarah was a recent graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry and had been admitted to the University of San Diego intending to study biology in anticipation of pursuing her goal of becoming a doctor. She was extraordinary in her strength, courage, and was an inspiration to all throughout her two year battle with cancer. She approached her treatment with an intelligence and tenacity that belied her years. Her beauty, joy for life, and her sparkling wit made her beloved to all who knew her.

    Eugene (Gene) J. Dragon of Londonderry, N.H., formerly from Northborough, Mass., died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010 after a short illness.
    Gene, born March 11, 1928 in Northampton, was the son of Arthur and Anna (Fournier) Dragon. He joined the U.S. Merchant Marines at the age of 16 and served in the Marine Corp during World War II, stationed in China. Following his military service he graduated from Monson Academy and attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

    He graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1966.. He worked various jobs throughout his lifetime.. He served in the U.S. Army where he received a honorable discharge.

  • Eleanor G. Green, 88

    Eleanor G. (Clark) Green, 88, of Windham, passed from this life, Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at her home.
    Eleanor was born in Hampstead, N.H., Dec. 30, 1921 to the late Charles and Minnie Clark, and lived in Wilmington most of her life. She returned to this area about 30 years ago. Mrs. Green worked as a secretary for the former Greer Company of Hudson for many years. She was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed traveling and above all her other numerous hobbies and pastimes, came her faithful family. Their was nothing more important to her than her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The children's laughs and smiles were an elixir for Mrs. Green that kept her youthful for many years.
