LONDONDERRY — Military families past and present flocked to Mack's Apples Sept. 11 for Military Appreciation Day.

Mack's opened its orchards to military personnel, active and otherwise, to pick a peck of apples at no charge during the event.

The day also featured refreshments, music, games and other entertainment.

There also was a Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony at noon, including keynote speaker retired Capt. Patricia Mack, who was a first responder at the World Trade Center.

Londonderry American Legion Post 27 saluted those who lost their lives that day and sounded "Taps."

Moore Mart was on hand to collect donations for care packages for military personnel serving overseas.
