LONDONDERRY | Londonderry High sophomore Danielle Lussier and musical partner Andrew Cox of Bedford just won Apple iPhones to keep them on top of their aspiring careers in show business.

The pair are runners-up in the Wells Fargo commercial contest, just missing out on the chance to have their work viewed by a national television audience.

Lussier and Cox garnered 2,519 votes in the online contest, coming in just 314 votes behind the winners. The voting ended Dec. 22. The winning video was aired during the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day.

Contestants had to update the song "Wells Fargo Wagon," choosing one of five musical styles.

Danielle and Andrew, who have been singing and dancing together in plays since they were both in seventh grade, chose to dance around the streets of Manchester in a Broadway version of the song.

While the other finalists in the contest lip-synched the song, Danielle and Andrew sang it themselves. This did not go unnoticed by the judges, who awarded the team the Viewers Choice Award.

"They e-mailed Andrew and told him they loved what we did with the video," Danielle said. "They said it was a little too dark to air on TV, though."

Danielle said they filmed the video in Manchester over one day with available light and toward the end of taping it was nighttime.

The pair is not all that disappointed, chalking the contest up to a fun experience.

"I think Andrew was happier to get an iPhone," Danielle said.

Danielle and Andrew, who attends Derryfield School, met when they were performing in "Les Miserables" at the Palace Theatre. They quickly became best friends and have appeared in "Into the Woods," also at the Palace and "Smokey Joe's Cafe" with the Peacock Players in Nashua.

Danielle is busy rehearsing for her role as Rizzo in Londonderry High's upcoming production of "Grease," scheduled to run Feb. 14, 15 and 16.
