---- — LONDONDERRY — The summer Concerts on the Common series begins June 3 with a season kickoff performance featuring the Londonderry High School music students.
The showcase performance features the school’s Jazz Lab and Rock Orchestra groups.
Concerts will then follow weekly on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. In case of rain, the concerts are moved to the Matthew Thornton Elementary School or high school gyms.
Maura McNamara has attended the summer concerts for many years.
“This is the best way to spend your Wednesday night during the summer months,” she said. “My family and I truly enjoy sitting on the Common listening to the live music.”
Local Realtor Mark Oswald supports the concerts and said this is part of what makes the town special.
“The summer concerts typifies the quality of life we call home, Londonderry,” he said. “I’m proud to be an original sponsor of this community and family event.
Concerts on the Common are in their 12th year in 2013 and presented by the Londonderry Arts Council.
The lineup is diverse and includes a performance by famed singer/songwriter Livingston Taylor on June 12.
Other performers are local talent, regional names and nationally known acts.
Other performances for 2013 include: Best But Not Broken featuring Eric Jackson, June 19; Jandee Lee Porter Band, June 26; Brian Templeton, July 10; Jamie Lynn Hart Band, July 17; Bruce Marshall Group, July 24; Ken Yates and Brian Dune, July 31; Manchuka, Aug. 7.
