It's time for Londonderry's Art on the Common

LONDONDERRY — The sixth annual Art on the Common Fine Art Show will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Londonderry Town Common, at the corner of Mammoth and Pillsbury roads.

Sponsored by the Londonderry Arts committee, this event will hosts artists from New Hampshire and Massachusetts. All art featured will be two-dimensional in oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, and colored pencil/multimedia.

Joan Tierney and Cameron Bennett will judge the entries, awarding first-, second- and third-place ribbons in all categories. First place will include a monetary prize.

Tierney is a member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters, the New Hampshire Artists Association and is a juried member of the Sharon Arts Center in Peterborough, as well as other art associations. She also is a member of the East Colony Art Gallery in Manchester.

Bennett studied as a child under his parents, both artists. He studied at the Baltimore School for the Arts, a specialized high school in Baltimore; he continued at the Rhode Island School of Design, the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Massachusetts College of Art, from which he received his bachelor's degree in illustration. He supports himself by painting portraits and creating illustrations, and instructs at the Art Institute of New Hampshire.

In the event of inclement weather, the show will be held Sunday, Sept. 12.
