LONDONDERRY BRIEFS

(Continued)

Performers, including Beatlejuice, Charlie Farren and The Fools, took the Whippersnappers’ stage and sang the music of Bob Dylan.

“Spreading the songs of Dylan through benefits like this is a passion,” event organizer Bobby Livingston said. “I’ve been hosting these birthday celebrations since 1996 and with the amazing lineup this year; we expected this year to be the best yet. So many talented musicians are thrilled to be a part of supporting these two great causes.”

Adult reading planned at Leach

Leach Library hosts its adult summer reading program this year with the theme “Groundbreaking Reads.”

Registration is underway and the program runs through Aug. 25.

For every book read after registration, participants will receive a raffle ticket for a weekly drawing. The person reading the most books will receive a gift basket. Call the library for information at 432-1132.

Children’s reading program set

Leach Library hosts its annual summer reading program for children. This year’s theme is “Dig Into Reading” and offers a full schedule of reading fun, special activities, stories and crafts.

All participants will work on one team to try to read enough books to dig a tunnel the length of Mammoth Road in Londonderry and back again, or 19.6 miles. Each book read equals one yard of tunnel. Sign up at the Leach Library Children’s Room or call 432-1132.

Concerts on the Common begin

The 12th annual summer “Concerts on the Common” series is underway with a full schedule of music set for the Town Common every Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Upcoming shows include Livingston Taylor, June 12; Best Not Broken, June 19; and the Jandee Lee Porter Band on June 26. The series is hosted by the Londonderry Arts Council.

Visit concertsonthecommon.org for a complete schedule and information.

In case of rain, shows are held either at Matthew Thornton Elementary School gym or in the Londonderry High School cafeteria.
