---- — LONDONDERRY — Signs are on the move at one Harvey Road business.

Town zoners voted unanimously to grant a variance to Wire Belt Co., 154 Harvey Road, allowing the business to move a sign from one location to another.

The company’s property is located at a corner lot at Harvey Road and Technology Drive, giving it two main frontage areas.

The change will essentially be putting two signs on a side where previously only one was allowed by town rules.

The variance will now allow Wire Belt to take letters from the Technology Drive side and put them on the other side of the building, giving better visibility and identification for entrances to the building.

Tom Sullivan represented Hudson-based Barlow Signs and spoke on behalf of Wire Belt. He said all the new letters proposed for the signs total only 62 square feet, where 100 square feet is normally allowed by town regulations.

Wire Belt has undergone some expansion and upgrade work, Sullivan said, the new sign locations would serve to enhance the entrances.

“Our goal is to ID the main entrance,” Sullivan said.

He said Wire Belt has been a good neighbor since it came to town.

Another freestanding sign on the property will remain unchanged, Sullivan said.

Zoning Board members questioned lighting of the new sign locations. Sullivan said the signs would use the “halo” style of lighting often used with this type of opaque-style lettering.

Sullivan also said Wire Belt operates three shifts and the signs would be lighted continuously through the night.
