LONDONDERRY — Leach Library in Londonderry is hosting Summer Reading Programs for children, young adults and adults in the community. These programs will encourage a summer full of reading and will include a number of events and prizes for all ages.
Children’s Summer Reading: Have a mammoth good time with this summer’s reading program. The theme is Dig Into Reading.
All reading program participants will work on one team to try to read enough books to dig a tunnel the length of Mammoth Road in Londonderry, from the Windham town line in the south, to the Manchester town line in the north and back again, with a total goal of 34,496 yards, or 19.6 miles. Each book read will equal one yard of tunnel dug. Follow our worm as it tracks our progress through the tunnel.
The program is open to all children from birth through sixth grade. Upon registration, participants will receive a packet containing calendars noting the dates and times of all programs.
The library will be leaping into the summer reading program with a Visit with Froggy. Come hear some fabulous stories of summertime fun. There will be plenty of time for pictures and a hug with Froggy. The visits will be held on Tuesday, June 25, through Thursday, June 27, from 11 a.m. to noon. Registration is required and begins on Thursday, June 20, at 9 a.m.
