Help police name that dog

Londonderry police are still accepting ideas for a name for the department’s new training dog mannequin. The mannequin will be used by police staff for training, according to police Officer John Perry, the department’s K-9 officer and K-9 Mingo’s handler.

The new stuffed dog is all black and resembles Mingo a bit, but needs a name. Training will be done to help officers learn how to do first aid or other services on a dog in case Mingo is ever injured while on the job.

The name contest runs through April 4. Anyone with a name suggestion for the department’s new mannequin is encouraged to enter.

Entries can be made through the Londonderry Police Facebook page or by emailing Perry at
