Londonderry building staff get certifications

LONDONDERRY — The town’s building department has been honored for its certification procedures.

The department is now 100 percent International Code Certified and the only department with that honor in the state of New Hampshire.

“It’s quite an achievement,” building inspector Richard Canuel told town councilors at a meeting earlier this month. “This adds credibility to our department.”

Canuel said staff member Dan Kramer received commercial building inspector certification and administrative staff member Libby Canuel is now also certified as a permit technician through the International Code Council.

Canuel said having this added certification status gives Londonderry’s building department added support and reduces liability for the building safety program.

The department is also now eligible to receive $1,100 credit toward continuing education for its members, Canuel said.

He said Londonderry would be recognized on the ICC website as a community with high regard for public safety and good building practices.
