Derry News

---- — Pug takes it to the Max

Max the pug is enjoying fame and fortune.

In his latest publicity coup, the Derry dog has his face on a billboard in the Nashua area.

Max, owned by Martin and Linda McCue, won a Best Friends pet products’ “Be Your Own Dog” video contest and earned the billboard prize. The 6-year-old even has his own website, mypugmax.com.

The photogenic dog also has a new Christmas video.

Getting his fare share

Londonderry police were called to a King George Drive home recently to investigate a white vehicle parked off the side of the road.

The caller noticed a man getting out of the vehicle, walking around the car, then getting back into the vehicle.

It turned out it was a taxi driver just lingering around and waiting for his fare from a customer.

On guard

The familiar wooden soldiers are in place for the holiday season.

The two soldiers guard the entrance to Veterans Hall on West Broadway in Derry.

Three town workers positioned the familiar figures last week.

Pound puppies

A stray dog picked up by Derry Animal Control had four puppies while staying at the local pound.

The puppies are now in the care of the Greater Derry Humane Society.

After around-the-clock feedings with an eyedropper, the newborn puppies are doing well, according to Humane Society director Barbara McCarthy.

The mixed-breed pups will be ready for adoption once they are old enough.

“They are tough little buggers because they survived,” McCarthy said.

Job-hunting again?

Londonderry police were called to a business Sunday night after an employee accidentally locked herself out.

“She cannot remember her boss’s name and so cannot call him,” the dispatcher reported.

Police finally found a contact number through the alarm company and the problem was resolved.

The employee might want to commit that name to memory — or start searching the classified ads.
