LONDONDERRY — Londonderry High School's Foods II classes, taught by Ann Gonyea, recently gave back to their community by donating homemade bread to the Sonshine Soup Kitchen in Derry.
A representative from the King Arthur flour company visited the LHS Foods classes last year. Each participating student learned how to prepare and bake bread from scratch, and each made two loaves.
This year, on June 4, the students continued the tradition.
Each student took one loaf of bread home and the remaining loaves were donated to the Sonshine Soup Kitchen, giving the students the opportunity to not only learn a valuable skill of bread making, but also to give back to the community.
Students in the Clothing Construction class are in the process of making quilts to donate to a shelter in Manchester.
