A Londonderry High School student has been selected to attend the 2013 Junior Statesmen Summer School at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., this summer.
Samuel Breslow, 17, will attend the three-week program run by Junior State of America, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization whose mission is to strengthen American democracy by educating and preparing high school students for lifelong involvement in leadership activities and society.
Breslow will participate in the class Media and Politics, equivalent to a semester college course, which will be instructed by a university professor.
Students will also have the chance to take part in nightly debates on many issues.
Government leaders will also share their ideas with program participants.
Breslow, who will be a senior this fall at Londonderry High, is active on the school’s debate team, the model UN club, math team and a number of honor societies.
He was also active in the 2008 and 2013 presidential campaigns and is involved in many community programs and activites.
He hopes to study political science after graduation in 2014.
