LONDONDERRY — The town is gearing up for a full schedule of summer playground events beginning July 8.
Londonderry’s Summer Playground Program is held every summer at the Matthew Thornton Elementary School on Mammoth Road and will run for five weeks this year, ending Aug. 8.
The program is open to all children in town who will be entering the first grade this fall and up to age 14.
Program participants can enjoy arts and crafts activities, games, sports and special theme days.
Children are grouped by age and interest. They are supervised in small groups by experienced staff. The summer program also includes several field trips.
There is no pre-registration for the program; parents can sign up their children the first day of attendance.
The program runs daily from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. Children can stay for as much or as little as they want.
The cost is $40 per child, $50 for two children in the same family, and $60 for three or more in the same family.
Some special activities planned for this summer include a baton twirling show, storyteller and demonstrations on bicycle safety.
