Do you know
the Muffin Man?@headNotebook:
The popular children’s rhyme has something in common with one Derry school — its address.
New district superintendent Laura Nelson made the connection in front of a theater full of teachers and staff last week.
“I found out today that South Range Elementary School was on Drury Lane,” Nelson said. “I couldn’t help but chuckle.”
Londonderry police responded to a residence on Stokes Road Saturday evening after a resident reported “two naked people” were sitting in a car in his driveway.
The caller said the car was green, but didn’t know the make or model. That’s understandable; his attention likely was elsewhere.
He told police he didn’t know the apparent nudists. Alas, when police arrived, they could not locate the green car, nor the nature lovers.
The big prize
One Derry School District employee was working hard during a recent teacher rally at Pinkerton Academy, remaining in the lofty office tending to the technological duties of the day.
When raffle prizes were being handed out, David Minkle was a bit too far removed to get his ticket.
“Someone get a ticket up to Mr. Minkle in the booth,” Superintendent Laura Nelson said. “Actually, I think he should get two.”
Ready for winter
A Mini Cooper was seen cruising down Nashua Road in Derry last week with the vanity plate GOTAWD.
The driver was boasting his car’s all-wheel drive a bit early, as no snow is predicted to be falling soon.
