Join Ladies Night Out and help food bank

Women throughout Southern New Hampshire are invited to join together Feb. 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. for a Ladies Night Out event to support the NH Food Bank.

The event will be held at Tupelo Music Hall.

The night includes entertainment, raffles and much more. All proceeds go to support the food bank.

Tickets are $15 per person. The Tupelo Music Hall is located at 2 Young Road.

The event is sponsored by the Women of the Granite State Church of Christ. For more information, call Laura Fix at 434-3874.

'House,' Holmes and more at Leach Library

The Leach Library hosts "Dr. Sherlock Holmes" on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. at the library.

The event features James Krasner, professor of English at the University of New Hampshire. Krasner will use clips from the television program "House" to discuss insight into the relationships between doctors and detectives and how important medicine was to Holmes.

The event is held in the library's lower level meeting room and is free.

Wellness Fair set at Matthew Thornton

The third annual Matthew Thornton Elementary School Wellness Fair, "Healthy Lifestyles: It's All in the Balance," is set for Feb. 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the school gym. The snow date is Feb. 23.

Presenters include Carol Mack with "WiFi Fit," and other activities including a rock wall climb and karate demonstrations.

Local Boy Scouts attend Klondike Derby

Members of Boy Scout Troop 1910 recently participated in the Nutfield District Klondike Derby held at Camp Carpenter in Manchester.

Scouts created a wheeled sled to take part in the contest, tested on their skills and leadership.
