Art auction benefits local chef

Derry News

---- — LONDONDERRY — Optimism was the word of the day for the Silent Art Auction and Raffle held at Coffeeberries in Londonderry on Saturday.

The artwork was hung, the food was prepared and the raffle baskets personally created by shop owner Christine Adie at the ready as the anticipated supporters of Cook Up A Cure 4 Brian strolled in to view the artwork, purchase a raffle ticket or two, and place a bid for the silent auction.

The highlight was the man of the hour, Chef Brian Winer, who came with his fan club; his mom, Bea, sister Jessica Winer Leavitt and her husband Noel, son and daughter Dash and Eden.

Friends stopped by to support the event and offer well wishes. Other people were introduced to this young man, who is battling cancer, and were happy to add a donation to benefit the nonprofit Chef Brian Winer Cancer Fund.

The silent art auction continues until April 30. There still is the opportunity to help this young man by placing a bid on a variety of original art pieces.

Stop by Coffeeberries in the Apple Tree Mall before the end of the month.
